SPAES Installs TETRA Communications Technology in Airbus Rescue Helicopters
SPAES GmbH & Co. KG installed a TETRA radio system with NVIS (Night Vision Imaging System) approval in nine Airbus helicopters EC 135 for a customer in air rescue.
For a customer in air rescue SPAES, a German company specialized in the development and certification of instruments and systems in aircrafts, installed a TETRA radio system with NVIS approval in nine Airbus helicopters EC 135.
A NVIS functional test was performed at the customer’s location.
“For the approval, the helicopter was placed in a hangar that can be completely darkened and a functional test was carried out with our own equipment”, said Joachim Schanz, CEO SPAES.
With NVIS glasses, provided by the customer, the external view could be verified, so that the display of the TETRA operation unit does not dazzle the pilot and the crew.
The co-pilot or the crew operates the tactical radio system to contact the ground staff for communication during operation.
For installation, SPAES issued a minor change in the EASA Part J21 design organization and prepared the required compliance documents.
