Now more than ever, people in charge of public safety have to deal with things like major natural disasters, social unrest, and terrorist acts. These new threats require improvements to strengthen mission-critical communications and make sure that the radio system used by the end-users is ready for the future.

In the 21st century, public safety organizations need and expect solutions that can be used anywhere and at any time, can be changed to fit different needs, and are built to be reliable and secure. The new Two47 portfolio from L3Harris Technologies gives customers the freedom to build a system that works for them. It is designed for ongoing growth and support.

The Two47 portfolio is designed to provide next-generation communications and is easy to change to meet the changing needs of customers. It offers frictionless interoperability and security and dependability that are unmatched.

Nino DiCosmo, L3Harris's president of Public Safety and Professional Communications, interviewed by Marketsceener said, "This is just the beginning. Our Two47 portfolio is a preview of the innovation and technology we will bring to the mission-critical communications industry." "Two47 is more than just a single product; it is the base on which we will build in the future."

Open, Adaptable, Unstoppable

L3Harris's Two47 mindset is all about being open, flexible, and impossible to stop. The Two47 portfolio is made so that customers can customize it to fit their budgets and needs. It offers options that can work together and can be used for any task.

Open: Two47 offers open systems that are designed to work with other systems. This fights the "walled garden" of locked-in private technology and gives customers the freedom and real choice to join their network from anywhere and at any time.

'We strongly believe that designing open systems provides our customers options from best-of-breed solutions to meet their specific needs,' said Jeremy Elder, L3Harris director of Product Management. 'We are putting together an ecosystem of industry-leading partners to deliver interoperable solutions centered around open standards.'

Adaptable: Building on the Project 25 standards (P25) makes it possible for users to communicate with each other and makes it easy to switch from older systems. The package brings together P25 Land Mobile Radio and push-to-talk over cellular. This lets users get the best of both LMR and LTE.

Also, when users upgrade to a new system, they can choose to use solution partners that have been tried and proven to work well together through the Mission Critical Alliance (MCA). This gives them access to the best-of-breed technology for their network modernization needs.

Unstoppable: An established Two47 P25 Radio Frequency site is the only option on the market that provides a high-availability system with four levels of resilience and multiple layers of backups for the control point.

The Next Step in Critical Communications

Base Station Two47

The Two47 Base Station was the first product that L3Harris made for Two47. It came out in 2022. This station meets all P25 standards and uses little energy. It can be used for all important messages.

'We are beginning to introduce and deploy our inaugural product, the Two47 Base Station, providing our customers with the next-level technology they need in order to secure not only current but future mission-critical communications networks,' said Todd Perdieu, L3Harris vice president of Strategy and Product. 'This is only just the beginning as we build a solution that is right for you, listening and improving along the way.'

The Two47 Base Station is the industry's smallest high-power P25 base station. It is the only design that can fit up to 10 channels and all other site equipment in a single standard rack.

The Base Station was made to be redundant and work with other systems. It uses an Advanced RISC Machine (ARM) processor, which gives it a strong foundation for building on and makes communication networks more safe.

Since the Two47 Base Station came out less than a year ago, L3Harris has done successful live tests of more than 200 Base Stations that will be used in the future.

Monitoring the system all the time

The Two47 Enterprise Network Manager constantly checks the health of the system and finds problems before they cause interruptions. ENM lets users see their system in new ways, no matter where they are or how it was built.

'Our customers need to be in control of their communications from wherever they are,' said Elder. 'The need for around-the-clock availability led to our creation of the Two47 Enterprise Network Manager, tracking what matters most, no matter what is connected.'

ENM lets dispatchers handle their full LMR system, including Two47 stations and other commercially available technologies, from a single pane of glass.

Getting farther out

L3Harris offers Two47 solutions to communities in Massachusetts, Mississippi, and Wisconsin, as well as to government organizations. As the company looks to the future, it keeps adding more Two47 goods to meet the changing needs of state, local, federal, tribal, energy, and transportation users.

'Our customers are searching for a system that is expanding and moving toward the future,' said DiCosmo. 'They are looking to us for a coming-of-age solution to provide the support they desperately depend on. That solution is the Two47.'
