T-Systems to Improve Local German Train Communications with TETRA
T-Systems plans to equip 157 local railway trains with on-board computers including software and control panels, passenger intercoms as well as Tetra radios.
Deutsche Telekom subsidiary T-Systems announced that it is to improve local transport communications in the cities of Dortmund, Bochum, Gelsenkirchen and Herne in the eastern Ruhr Area. The contract has a volume in the double-digit millions of euros.
The arrival time will be displayed in real time on platforms and bus stops but also on the internet and applications. Local trains will be integrated into the operations control system to ensure connections, and bus drivers will receive notifications when trains are delayed.
T-Systems plans to equip 157 local railway trains with on-board computers including software and control panels, passenger intercoms as well as Tetra radios. This allows the vehicles to stay connected to the control systems at all times. Tetra communications infrastructure will be deployed in tunnels to ensure seamless connections between trains and control systems.
The aim of the project is to completely integrate the local transport infrastructure into the existing control system. It is due to be completed by the end of next year.
