VP Public Safety Communications Europe on Redundancy & Resilience in Public Safety
Public safety organisations face new challenges and a variety of new threats. This situation requires intelligent solutions in order to work reliably even in case of a major crisis - such as communication systems that are reliable and redundant.
When is a system safe enough? What conditions must be met for fast and reliable alerting; even if the connection to the control and monitoring system is interrupted. Is it possible to be fully prepared for all eventualities in order to be able to autonomously alert the individual districts? Even more: What happens if public networks break down and security networks reach or even exceed their capacity? Can a major crisis be solved without redundant and reliable communication and alerting systems?
Manfred Blaha, Vice-President Public Safety Communications Europe, takes a stance at the specific requirements for public safety communication systems.
