Amper Signs TETRA contract with Madrid Metro
The Amper Group, through its subsidiary Amper Sistemas, has signed a contract with Metro de Madrid, S.A. In the city of Madrid, Amper will install and commission a TETRA digital trunking system system for Line 5.
The deployment of the new TETRA System on Line 5 will be a major advance in the communications infrastructure for Metro de Madrid, S.A. Currently, line 5 uses a mobile radiocommunication system baased on VHF in tunnels and UHF at the various metro stations.
Today, TETRA coverage is only available in those stations that have correspondence with lines that have already implemented TETRA.
The new system will guarantee TETRA coverage inside the tunnels and in the metro stations of Line 5.
Amper Sistemas is the company that supplied, installed and commissioned the TETRA radio infrastructure of Metro de Madrid, SA, its subsequent extensions and the renovation of base stations on lines 1, 7, 8, 10 and 11,
The award of this project strengthens the leadership position of the Amper Group Security Unit in the deployment of TETRA communications networks in the field of Transport systems in Spain.
The first stations of Line 5 were inaugurated in 1968 and last extended in 2006. The line crosses the city from the northeast to the southwest through 32 stations, with connections to lines 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 9, 10 and Ramal, supporting a transit of more than 60 million passengers annually.
