Hytera to Deliver DMR System to Biggest Latin American Coal Mine

Source: MCCResources

Hytera, in close collaboration with its local partner Asecones S.A, will deliver a complete DMR Tier III trunking communications system to Carbones del Cerrejón Limited (Cerrejón), an integrated mining and transport complex in Colombia.

Cerrejón is the largest coal mine in Latin America and top 10 open-pit operations in the world.

Cerrejón has been relying heavily on its existing MPT1327 communications system to ensure efficient and safe onsite operation. In an effort to further raise the bar of modern mining operation, Cerrejón actively looked for the latest and most suitable technology on the market, and the open standard DMR technology stood out as the optimal technology. Hytera will supply the flagship terminals and infrastructure out of its top-notch DMR Tier III trunking portfolio. The system will be set up with 10 sites and over 4,000 units of PD986 portable radios and MD786 mobile radios as well as a number of intrinsically safe radios and accessories.

“We are proud that Cerrejón has chosen Hytera’s DMR solution. As the champion of DMR Tier III technology, Hytera is bringing the most advanced DMR trunking portfolio in the market to the No. 1 coal mine in the region. We are closely working with our partner Asecones to ensure a smooth migration of the system, and enable the users of the system to get the best out of it,” said Fernando Camelo, Regional Sales Director of Hytera.
