Renewal Dutch C2000 Public Safety TETRA Network Delayed Until 2019
The renewal of C2000, the communication system for the emergency services in The Netherlands will be live at the earliest next year, Minister Ferd Grapperhaus (Justice and Security) informed the House of Representatives.
"Over the past few months, the management of the IVC program as well as the external test institute were increasingly worried whether the suppliers would achieve sufficient progress within the agreed planning for the renewal of the critical voice communications network. The result of a number of integration and compliance tests were inadequate, as a result of which the chance of timely delivery of the system greatly decreased ", Minister Grapperhaus reports.
It is inevitable that the entire project will become more expensive. Grapperhaus: "The postponement of the migration leads to costs for the longer use of the current C2000 system. In addition, this means that the maintenance costs, but also the savings that will be realized with the new system, will occur later. Finally, this may lead to additional costs for keeping the control room locations in the current framework. However, it may now be expected that these expenses will be covered within the available C2000 budget."
