Tait Communications has joined the Information Technology for Public Transport (ITxPT) initiative as a Principal Member. ITxPT started with the European Bus System of the Future project and continues the work on standardisation and cost-effective deployment of intelligent public transport systems, including on-board vehicles and the back-office applications to support them. Tait Communications has been providing critical communication solutions to transport operators and authorities for nearly 50 years and is a leader in applying interoperable, open-standards-based solutions.

John Gardener, Chief Technology Officer, Tait Communications in Europe said: “In the communications world, we champion open-standards technology. In joining the ITxPT initiative we aim to contribute to the development of these standards for the public-transport sector." He continued: “Open standards are a core aspect of the solutions and services we offer and advocate for, whether it be with the FCC in the USA, ETSI in Europe or 3GPP on the development of global cellular standards.
