Utility Connect Awarded 450 MHz License Through 2050 in The Netherlands
Utility Connect (UC), a board member of the 450 MHz Alliance, is delighted to announce that the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate has granted them the license for phase B (2 x 1.5 MHz) in the 450 MHz band. This milestone was officially published on the RDI website.
The acquisition of this license aligns with UC’s commitment to the digitization of the energy grid, anticipating future advancements in this area. The 450 MHz band license, also referred to as the PAMR band, is set to remain valid until the year 2050 and mandates the implementation of at least 4G technology.
Previously, phase A (2 x 1.5 MHz) had been extended for UC until 2035, specifically for the Dutch grid operators. Now, as the holder of the phase B license, UC will automatically acquire phase A from 2035 to 2050, effectively consolidating the entire license under their management. This comprehensive control over the license is pivotal for network operators and other essential infrastructure providers, offering them the opportunity to enhance the wireless services of an LTE-M network within the 450 MHz spectrum for the foreseeable future.
