Sepura introduces a complete portfolio of radios (keypad display and keypad-less versions), mobile, repeater and dispatcher applications (SICS eXpress).

Sepura is delighted to launch its DMR solution at Comms Connect, the first in a series of planned promotional activities taking place on the global communication market. The stage for the European launch of Sepura DMR will be PMREXpo in Cologne, 26-28 November.

This announcement is one of the most significant in Sepura’s recent history and is integral to the strategic transformation of the organisation from a market leading TETRA terminal manufacturer with public safety focus into a global leader and provider of complete critical communications solutions for business and professional users.

Sepura introduces a complete portfolio of radios (keypad display and keypad-less versions), mobile, repeater and dispatcher applications (SICS eXpress). The DMR hand-portables are rugged, robust and offer IP67 rating and 1W audio, the fully-featured mobile offers advanced functionality and flexibility, combined with up to 45W of power. SICS eXpress provides a cost effective and integrated dispatch solution that enables an organisation to be able to manage, track and control their entire radio fleets.

All products are compliant with ETSI’s Tier 2 DMR for conventional licensed operation and will be available in UHF (400-470MHz) and VHF (136-174MHz). The DMR infrastructure will initially be available for single site operation, with the planned addition of a multi-site solution for coverage enhancement.

Together with Sepura’s longstanding audio expertise, product quality and reliability, users of Sepura DMR solution will also benefit from the interchangeability with many of Sepura’s current accessories and will also have access to a wide range of data applications that deliver enhanced employee safety and increased efficiency.

Richard Lucas, DMR Business Director for Sepura commented “Sepura has established a leading reputation in an open standards market for TETRA in mission critical and industrial applications over the last 11 years. Our channel partners and customers have been demanding that Sepura builds on its winning reputation of delivering reliable, robust and secure solutions for TETRA, and bring this expertise into the DMR market.  We have thus identified a growth opportunity with the DMR standard that leverages our strengths in the professional radio market and our core skills in rugged, dependable radio design”.

Lucas continued: “In recent times TETRA has seen its growing adoption by demanding industrial markets such as oil & gas, mining and transportation and Sepura has experienced a rapid growth in such markets too. DMR gives us the opportunity to extend and accelerate that growth with a standard that is set to dominate the licensed conventional PMR market for business users."

Gordon Watling, CEO for Sepura said “Our family of DMR radio products brings professional and industrial users all the advantages of digital radio communications and the additional benefits of Sepura’s commitment to provide robust, feature-rich solutions, utilising open standards.  Sepura has its roots in open standards technologies and is following the same philosophy with DMR: we are actively involved with the DMR Association’s working groups. By using ETSI standards Sepura will enable economies of scale for applications developers and thus stimulate a vibrant ecosystem for DMR.”

Watling concluded: “With the addition of the DMR family to our product offering we once again demonstrate our commitment to comply with the requirements of our target market and deliver the products that professional and business users need. Our DMR radio solution is the solid choice for the move to digital communications”.
