Motorola Solutions acquires Trident Micro Systems

Motorola Solutions has acquired Trident Micro Systems, a developer of controllers for analog and digital LMR systems—notably, for Motorola Solutions’ Connect Plus offering in its MOTOTRBO platform— according to a Motorola Solutions spokeswoman.

Urgentcomm reported on their website the feedback on this aquisitin from Motorola Solutions spokeswoman Tama McWhinney. She said that Motorola Solutions aquired the company just recently.

Tama McWhinney: “Basically, we’re acquiring them to allow us to accelerate our Connect Plus portfolio and solution offering … We’re looking forward to continuing innovation in that Connect Plus space with their employees.”

Trident Micro Systems is a company that is based in Arden, N.C., USA. The facility in Arden remains open, and the “majority” of Trident Micro Systems employees have been retained to be part of the Motorola Solutions team, McWhinney said.

Motorola Solutions closed the deal for Trident Micro Systems on Nov. 18, McWhinney said.
