Hytera Digital Radio to Improve Safety in Wolverhampton City Centre
Already in 2003 Wolverhampton installed a new radio system, but in June 2015 a new and updated Hytera digital radio link went live.
Violent crimes, shoplifting and anti-social behaviour topped the number of offences carried out between January and June, according to UK Crime Statistics. There were a total of 1,353 crimes recorded in the Wolverhampton city centre.

One of the tools the BID has introduced to keep the city safer is a new digital radio system which links up shopkeepers, police and CCTV operators.
The radio system has been incorporated into the city’s Business Crime Partnership since 2003, but in June a new and updated Hytera digital radio link went live.
The partnership aims to prevent and detect crime, reduce the opportunity to commit crime in the city centre, provide city centre intelligence and work with organisations such as the police and the council’s anti-social behaviour unit.
The new system provide a communication system between members of the crime partnership including West Midlands Police, shopping centre management, the retail and licensed premises, security providers, CCTV operators, public transport providers and the University of Wolverhampton.
