Motorola Solutions To Showcase Industry-leading Innovations for the Digital Age at Critical Communications World 2018, Germany
Disaster Relief 2.0 – leveraging technology to build resilient communities.
Motorola Solutions will unveil highly advanced mission-critical solutions for creating a powerful state of safety for a digital society at Critical Communications World 2018 (May 15-17, Berlin, Germany, booth C10). CCW 2018 highlights will include solutions for both public safety and commercial organisations in the area of digital transformation of public safety, disaster relief 2.0 and network modernisation.
Mission-critical communication is more important than ever before. In times of natural disasters, terrorist attacks, mass demonstrations and increasing violence, public safety organisations need cutting-edge smart public safety solutions for fast and effective action. Moreover, in the digital age, rapid developments in digital technology have a profound impact on our lives, enabling a digital economy and fundamentally reshaping the public safety landscape.
“Society, economy and public safety are undergoing a digital transformation. We provide public safety organisations and commercial customers with the right intelligence and tools to help them enhance their operational efficiency, responsiveness and safety,” said Mark Schmidl, Vice President and General Manager, Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) at Motorola Solutions. “From TETRA and DMR to LTE, visitors to our CCW booth can experience one of the most comprehensive critical communications device portfolios as well as powerful analytics, which facilitate today’s digital transformation.”
NEW AT CCW 2018
DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION OF PUBLIC SAFETY
The complexity of crime is increasing and the need for efficient information sharing within and between different agencies has never been greater. With the increasing adoption of body-worn video and the growing number of information sources supporting public safety, a tipping point has been reached. If this valuable data cannot be utilised in real time, public safety organisations risk not knowing that critical piece of information that could change the outcome of an incident.
Motorola Solutions will also give exclusive insights into its newly acquired end-to-end security platform from Avigilon, which brings high-resolution video and Al-based analytics to public safety and commercial workflows. Avigilon will be previewing the latest enhancement to Avigilon Appearance Search™ technology, its AI search engine that helps to dramatically improve incident response times by enabling operators to quickly search through hours of footage to locate a person or vehicle of interest across an entire site. Avigilon will also be featuring some of its advanced camera lines including the H4 Thermal camera which helps user see beyond the visible spectrum, the H4 Infrared Pan-Tilt-Zoom (IR PTZ) camera which can see up to 250 meters (820 feet) in complete darkness, as well as the industry’s first 7K (30 MP) HD Pro camera that provides wide area coverage while still delivering exceptional image detail to zoom in.
Other CCW highlights include Motorola Solutions’ public safety apps suite featuring new applications like the Capture Mobile Camera app, which allows frontline teams to securely capture images, video and audio with a verifiable chain-of-custody from the moment of capture.
DISASTER RELIEF 2.0
When disasters strike and critical communication is limited or non-existent, public safety and commercial users such as utility providers can rely on easy-to-carry full power broadband networks: The Motorola Solutions LXN 500 LTE Ultra Portable Infrastructure enables users to take their network with them. Covering a spectrum of use cases from backpack to in-vehicle to in-building and fixed site, LTE coverage can be quickly and securely established anywhere and anytime. Weighing less than 6 kilograms and with activation time frames of less than five minutes from power on, the LXN 500 LTE Ultra Portable Infrastructure is Motorola Solutions’ smallest and lightest full power broadband network.
The fully functional LTE network is built on a platform that combines an eNodeB (eNB) and Evolved Packet Core (EPC). The portable infrastructure creates an LTE bubble with coverage of up to one kilometer and can host up to 100 subscribers. Coverage and capacity on demand deliver mission-critical video and other rich media application information at the point of engagement. The Wi-Fi and GPS equipped LXN500 can also host software applications such as mapping, messaging and video streaming to pinpoint in-field resources in cases of emergency and enable seamless collaboration. The IP54-rated solid-state ruggedized design withstands heat, cold, rain as well as humidity, dust and vibration.
NETWORK MODERNISATION AS A FIRST STEP TO DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION
Forward-thinking public safety network providers are planning for an extended period of TETRA coexisting with LTE. While TETRA remains the best technology for mission-critical voice services, LTE promises cutting-edge, transformative applications that will enhance frontline personnel safety, improve situational awareness and boost productivity. At CCW 2018, Motorola Solutions will demonstrate how users can benefit from integrated TETRA and LTE broadband networks.
Future-ready technology like Motorola Solutions’ DIMETRA X Core systems enable public safety organisations and commercial customers to make the most of their existing TETRA network today, while preparing for additional LTE broadband capabilities offered by mobile broadband tomorrow.
Moreover, Motorola Solutions will present updates to its DIMETRA Express TETRA system, which now offers enhanced modularity and geographic redundancy, and will showcase how users can improve the security and resilience of their critical communications networks today and in the future. Motorola Solutions will also showcase its enhanced public safety portfolio at CCW 2018 with a new WAVE on-premise offer. The WAVE platform connects disparate networks, enabling public safety and commercial users to communicate between smartphones, radios, computers and landlines.
COLLABORATIVE DEVICES
At CCW 2018, Motorola Solutions will also present its vision of collaborative public safety and commercial workflows based on dedicated TETRA and LTE broadband devices. In a world with an increasing number of connected devices Motorola Solutions fosters the development of collaborative solutions because it believes it promotes flexibility, simplifies communications and reduces the risk of complex multipurpose devices. Therefore Motorola Solutions sees a clear market demand for interconnected devices, which support either TETRA or LTE broadband networks and communicate between themselves and with other equipment around them creating seamless communications across technologies.
A key component of Motorola Solutions’ collaborative solution portfolio is the new LEX L11 Mission Critical LTE device. In addition to offering a broad range of innovative features including an advanced end-to-end secure mobile platform, the LEX L11 collaborates seamlessly with other Bluetooth-enabled devices as part of a secure personal area network. This collaborative function allows users to get the best of both worlds – for example, users can benefit from the combined coverage of TETRA and Public Safety Broadband networks or use the LEX L11 as their primary user interface for both TETRA and LTE-based communications.
