FirstNet expands across Indiana to advance public safety communications capabilities
Indiana’s first responders are getting a major boost in their wireless communications with the addition of new, purpose-built FirstNet(link is external) cell sites and other network enhancements at nearly 700 existing sites.
This new infrastructure is a part of the FirstNet network expansion taking place across the state, bringing increased coverage, capacity and capabilities for public safety.
“AT&T is steadfast in its mission to build out the FirstNet network across the state, and it’s our first responders who are benefitting,” said Kelly Dignin, executive director, Indiana Integrated Public Safety Commission. “Over the last 3 years, we’ve not only seen growth in the network, but Indiana was also the first to integrate FirstNet with our statewide radio system.”
“With improved technologies and prioritized connectivity, Indiana’s police officers, firefighters and emergency medical personnel are better positioned today to respond to disasters or emergencies,” Dignin added.
