Intracom Telecom revolutionizes Hellenic Coast Guard’s connectivity

Intracom Telecom, a global telecommunication systems and solutions vendor, announced the successful completion of a project for the Hellenic Coast Guard (HCG) using Intracom Telecom’s millimeter wave (mmWave) connectivity platform, the UltraLink™-FX80 CN. More specifically, the company designed the network and supplied its revolutionary multi-gigabit wireless radio in order to interconnect buildings and sites of HCG located in the wider area of the port of Piraeus.

Following a tender carried out by the HCG, Intracom Telecom was awarded the project “Replacement of wireless connections of the Hellenic Coast Guard’s central buildings”. The offer made by the company was based on a best-of-breed technical solution that meet all requirements. Intracom Telecom used much of its international expertise in supplying its technology for mission critical private networks.

The HCG benefits from Intracom Telecom’s state-of-the-art equipment, enabling its HQ to maintain uninterrupted broadband connection with points of interest within the area of the Port of Piraeus, replacing older technologies. Apart from the enhanced internet connectivity, HCG also improved a number of internal web based and client-server applications, effectively transferring two-way audio, video, voice and data at ultra-high speeds, to and from the headquarters. The project also included migration services, trial period services and appropriate training.

The HCG, a sensitive organization under the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Insular Policy, acquired modern network infrastructures for its nerve center at the port of Piraeus, a key element towards succeeding in its mission for the surveillance and detection of intruders at Hellenic ports and the entire coastal line, one of the longest globally.
