ZOLLNER - Signal System Technologies means the continuation of a long and most successful tradition of manufacturing sound signal appliances for vessels, the railways and industrial plants. The history of production began with steam and compressed air operated whistles, the Makrofons, made complete with the electric operated Zet-Horns beginning in the 1950s. Long experience and steady development have secured the position of ZOLLNER SIGNAL GMBH as one of the leading manufacturers of this product range worldwide.
ZOLLNER - Signal System Technologies also means the development of completely new, state-of-the-art acoustic and optic warning systems for track work sites - AUTOPROWA. The design of this system is based on the demands for a failsafe warning system appropriate for the rough ambiance of a construction site.
Established in 1946 ZOLLNER remained in the hands of the family of its founder H. Zöllner until 1980. At that time the firm was taken over by Dr. Rolf Murmann who held the main shares until 1991 when ZOLLNER Signal GmbH became a member of the Austrian owned AVL Group. With the beginning of the year 2001 a section of the AVL Zollner GmbH returned into the ownership of the Murmann family where it continues the successful operation as ZOLLNER - Signal System Technologies under the management of Dr. Philipp Murmann.
