Bittium and Tutus Sign an Agreement of a Certified Mobile Solution for the Swedish Authorities

This solution combines Tutus' strong security expertise and Bittium's extremely reliable Bittium Tough Mobile™ 2 smartphone platform.

Bittium, a leading Finnish provider of mission critical communication solutions, and Tutus, a Swedish expert in certified network encryption solutions, have started a cooperation which will create an unparalleled mobile solution to be used when high security classification is needed. This solution combines Tutus' strong security expertise and Bittium's extremely reliable Bittium Tough Mobile™ 2 smartphone platform. The unique solution is designed for a mobile work environment, offering security especially as a critical communication tool. Tutus is the main supplier of Swedish government-approved and certified IT security products in Sweden, and this co-developed solution will be part of Tutus' product offering. Tutus provides security solutions e.g. for the Swedish Defense Forces and other authorities that require Restricted classification level security in their communication.

This collaboration proves Bittium's ability to provide a comprehensive platform for various national security solutions. Bittium Tough Mobile™ 2 is designed to enable the use of trusted 3rd party security software and encryption algorithms in the smartphone.

Bittium Tough Mobile™ 2 is fully designed and manufactured in Finland and Bittium ensures supervised and secure manufacturing and supply of the smartphones to the customers. Also, the component and software solutions of the phone can be audited for use by authorities. Bittium Tough Mobile™ 2 has a significantly longer availability and lifespan and better availability of security updates compared to conventional smartphones. The unique information security built within the smartphone includes several encryption- and authentication features, tamper-proof information security platform as well as a privacy mode. With a touch of a button it is possible to disable microphones, camera and Bluetooth, and the accuracy of sensors is reduced.
