iTrinegy and APD Communications Win Network Project of the Year 2012 - Public Sector Award
The winning project was focused on testing the development of Omniguard, a software product developed for Airwave by APD Communications and tested using iTrinegy's network emulation technology
iTrinegy working in conjunction with APD Communications, announces that they are proud winners of the Network Project of the Year 2012 Public Sector Award, sponsored by Network Computing. The award demonstrates excellence in enabling organizations to improve their internal and external communications and collaboration activities.
The Network Computing Awards were launched to recognise the projects, products, services and companies that have particularly impressed readers of Network Computing. 2012 saw the 6th Annual Network Computing Awards with comedian, Ian Moore presenting the silverware at the awards held on 22nd March, at the Hotel Russell, Russell Square, in London.
The winning project was focused on testing the development of Omniguard, a software product developed for Airwave by APD Communications and tested using iTrinegy's network emulation technology. Airwave came up with the vision of the product concept in collaboration with the British ambulance services for the safety of staff working alone.
Omniguard uses radios connected to Airwave's TETRA Network, allowing staff working in potentially threatening situations to request heightened monitoring from the control room. The product has also been extended to support other network bearers, devices and control room environments, allowing monitoring to be extended to include non-TETRA devices such as Smartphones/iPhones and PDAs on GPRS/3G networks.
The project was critical in nature and APD needed to fully understand how the application would work no matter where the individual was located and what network they were utilising. iTrinegy's Network Emulator (INE Enterprise), was used by APD to recreate all network types and conditions that an individual might experience, so that a full test of the mission-critical applications resilience in the field was achieved.
"Being part of a winning combination for the Network Project of the Year 2012, is a benchmark to the quality of both iTrinegy and APD products and capabilities. It validates our Best-in-Class network solutions which help in the guarantee of a successful project." said Frank Puranik, Product Director at iTrinegy. "It is particularly pleasing to be recognized as part of such a prestigious mission-critical project for the Ambulance Service and shows the capability of our enterprise strength network emulators."
We are delighted that Airwave's Omniguard product has been selected by Network Computing Magazine for this award," said Jonathan Hamill, Sales & Marketing Director at APD. "iTrinegy's Network Emulator technology was integral to its development, helping to ensure emergency services staff, along with other lone workers, have full support from their control room at all times."
