C2000 TETRA radio tender "under fire"
The tender for radios for the Dutch police (ARC) has been discredited because of bypassing the EU procurement rules.
De Telegraaf reported today that the purchasing depertment of the Dutch Polices of the are "under fire" again. Discredited after a lingering affair of the car contract now there is fuss over a million orders for alcohol testers and TETRA radio equipment because they would have been violated integrity and procurement rules when purchasing them.
According to the newspaper, a big supplier of police equipment reported this to the national police department. The police would routinely buy what they want, without much to attract procurement rules and procedures.
The tender specifications are written in a way that somehow the brand that wins the preference of the buyers has a hug advantage in winning. In the case of the radios, for example, the tender would be writen in favour of Motorola, while the radio competitor Sepura during an internal test in the Brabant East regon would have been indisputable the better and cheaper option.
It is not the first time that the procurement of radios would have been discredited. Earlier this year there was controversy about the procurement of radios for the Fire Department.
