KPN wins Major Digital Radio Tender in The Netherlands
Dutch telecom provider KPN has won the IBARC2 radio tender for the suply of about 6000 radios for the Dutch Fire Brigade.
Dutch telecom provider KPN has won the IBARC2 radio tender for the supply of about 6000 radios for the Dutch Fire Brigade. The Steering Committee made its decision based on the best value for money. As with any European tender procedure the contract has provisionally been awarded. Around mid-November the final award will be announces.
IBARC2, is the Radio Tender for Fire Communications in The Netherlands and is the successor of the initial IBARC tender.
Seventeen fire regions and IFV participate in this joint procurement.
A source within KPN said that the win just came in on the right moment after the company has lost the tender for the upgrade of the Dutch C2000 TETRA network. This significant win motivates many of our colleagues within the critical communications division, he said
Since KPN lost the C2000 network tender back in 2015, it has been very quit around its critical communications division. This year, the company has restructured dramatically in it Critical Communications division as the director of solutions, director of sales and general director of the KPN CC division have left the company.
