BDBOS Discusses BOS Digital Radio at European Police Congress
The focus of the user-forum was the modernization of the BOS digital radio network and the related questions on all-IP transformation and the future of mobile broadband communications.
BDBOS announced on its website that members of the authorities and organizations with security tasks (BOS) were able to visit a user forum with several lectures on BOS digital radio on the second day of the 20th European Police Congress that took place in the Berlin Congress Center on the 21 and 22 February.
The focus of the user-forum was the modernization of the BOS digital radio network and the related questions on all-IP transformation and the future of mobile broadband communications.
The head of the BDBOS Technology Group, Thomas Scholle, explained in his lecture on the technological future of digital radio the activities that BDBOS, the Federal Government and the federal states, will carry out to ensure the functionality and reliability of the digital BOS voice communication network until at least 2030. For this purpose, a modernization of the TETRA system technology of the BOS digital radio network is planned, based on the IP standard.
The head of the BDBOS Operations Department, Dr. Barbara Held, then presented the current status of BOS communication in Europe and gave the listeners an insight into developments in different European countries.
The head of the Authorized Body Rhineland-Palatinate, Markus Moog, drew attention to another important topic on BOS digital radio. He presented a research project dealing with the acceptance of digital radio among its users. During his presentation, he showed how factors such as age or interest in training affect the satisfaction of the personnel involved.
