SIRESP to Test Critical Communications between Mission Critical LTE & TETRA Technology
Motorola Solutions, shareholder of the company that manages the SIRESP public safety network in Portugal integrates WAVE to allow LTE terminals to communicate with TETRA radios used on the SIRESP network.
Motorola Solutions together with Portugal's security and civil protection organizations have conducted tests with 100 users of a technology that enables smartphones to communicate with fire and police radio terminals.
Since spring this year, the General Secretariat of the Ministry of Internal Administration (SGMAI) has been testing the convergence of TETRA technology used in the National Emergency and Safety Network (RNES, known as SIRESP) and LTE.
During these tests, smartphones with software that allows them to communicate by voice or text with TETRA radios were used. The software also supports a variety of operating modes for emergency responders.
