Vietnam Traffic Police Choose Tait DMR Tier 3 for Pilot Project

Tait, together with a local partner, will provide a single site UHF DMR Tier 3 network with packet data, due to be operational by August 2014. 

The Traffic Police currently operate on an existing analog conventional network however they wanted to move to a private digital trunked system that would deliver benefits such as greater coverage and clearer voice communications. VMOPS have developed their own AVL and Tait will provide the interface to it. The packet data functionality will be used for sending small files, such as personal identification data, over the DMR network from the control centre to the field mobile radio connected to a portable PC. Tait will provide System and Network Design services, and Project Management services to help ensure a successful outcome for the Traffic Police. 

To mitigate the risk of a technology migration, VMOPS chose to proceed with a pilot phase before implementing a full-scale, five-six site digital trunked system. This approach has helped them to avoid the budget constraints associated with large, single implementations and will help to ensure support for the change as the project progresses.
