Tait Supports Fire Services at Auckland Sky Tower Stair Challenge
On 23 May 2015, a team of Tait Tough employees showcased their support for fire services and Leukaemia & Blood Cancer New Zealand (LBC) at the Firefighter Sky Tower Stair Challenge.
Now in its 11th year, the Stair Challenge invites firefighters from around the world to raise funds and awareness for LBC by racing up 51 floors (all 1,103 steps) of the Sky Tower wearing full firefighting kit weighing 25kg.
LBC is New Zealand’s national charity dedicated to supporting patients and their families living with blood cancers like leukaemia and related blood conditions.
This year, for the first time in the event’s history, more than NZ$1,000,000 was raised with every cent going directly towards helping the six New Zealanders a day diagnosed with a blood cancer or related condition. Tait is proud to stand alongside LBC in this event, which provides much needed funds for family education and support services such as emergency assistance and counseling.
As a major sponsor of the event, Tait was on site supporting competitors and demonstrating the technologies we provide to keep firefighters safe. Firefighters from the Rolleston Volunteer Fire Brigade and the Glenbrook Industrial Brigade wore Tait BioLink during their climbs, enabling supporters and family members to have real time visibility of vital information such as body temperature, heart rate, and orientation.
