Revenues generated by the mission critical LTE ecosystem are set to increase across all major sectors to 2021, according to an analysis from IHS Markit. Leading the way is the utilities market, with 120 percent growth, followed by public safety, where revenues are set to double. Transport is predicted to see growth of 80 percent, just beating the 75 percent increase expected from the industrial sector.

The successful evolution of the LTE critical communications market is dependent on the incorporation of critical users’ specific requirements; features such as Push-to-Talk and Group Call which are not currently available on commercial networks. Mission critical LTE ecosystem revenues across Utilities are expected to increase of 120 percent from USD 75 million in 2018 to USD 165 million in 2021, Public Safety to double from USD 3 billion in 2018 to USD 5.9 billion in 2021, Transport to increase of 80 percent from USD 472 million in 2018 to USD 849 million in 2021, and Industrial to increase of 75 percent from USD 362 million in 2018 to USD 633 million in 2021.
