Bundesministerium des Innern und für Heimat ( The German MOI ) announced that Jens Koch, an experienced security expert, will become the new president of the Bundesanstalt für den Digitalfunk (BDBOS) on October 1.

The BDBOS is responsible for the construction, operation and further development of the nationwide standardized digital radio system BOS for the emergency services of the police and fire brigades, rescue services as well as disaster and civil protection authorities at federal and state level and the German armed forces.

Federal Minister of the Interior Nancy Faeser commented:

"I am pleased that I have been able to recruit Jens Koch, an excellent security expert, as President of the BDBOS. Thanks to his many years of experience in the Federal Ministry of the Interior, the Federal Chancellery and the Federal Agency for Technical Relief, he knows the authorities and organisations with security tasks first-hand and can take on the challenging tasks at the head of the federal network operator from day one. In the current situation, it is of central importance that the security authorities can communicate with each other digitally, tap-proof and without interference."
