BDBOS (Federal Agency for Public Safety Digital Radio - in Germany) announced that the long-standing president of the BDBOS, Andreas Gegenfurtner, retired on June 30 2024. Vice President Frank Buddrus will be managing the Federal Institute's business until further notice.

Under the leadership of Andreas Gegenfurtner, the BOS digital radio has developed significantly in recent years. Since 2019, he has also successfully driven forward the consolidation and further development of the federal government's networks.

BDBOS Vice President Frank Buddrus thanked Gegenfurtner on behalf of the entire company and wished him all the best for the new phase of his life that is now beginning:

"Many of us have had committed discussions with him and together we have passionately sought the best solutions for our projects. He has often successfully led the federal and state governments to a conciliatory compromise and received great support internally thanks to his collegial and diplomatic manner. But the most important thing: With him at the helm, we have achieved a lot for Germany and made the central importance of the BDBOS for internal security visible far beyond the political sphere."

Andreas Gegenfurtner has worked for the Federal Agency since the BDBOS was founded in 2007, initially in the office of Vice President. Since 2016, he has led BDBOS as President. His confirmation in office in 2021 was also an expression of the trusting and successful cooperation with the federal and state governments.

Gegenfurtner began his career with the Baden-Württemberg police, where he most recently worked as a police chief. In 2006, he moved to the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of the Interior, where he was overall project manager for the development of the BOS digital radio in Baden-Württemberg.

It is currently not yet clear who will succeed Gegenfurtner as President. In the meantime, Vice President Frank Buddrus is running the BDBOS's business.
