A donation to the Isle of
Man's St John Ambulance of eight first aid responder kits "could save
lives", an ambulance spokesperson has said. The gift, which is worth about £18,000, came from the Ramsey Cottage Hospital League of Friends. The kits each contain defibrillators, oxygen and other emergency equipment including Tetra radios.
Co-ordinator of St John Ambulance Gerry Jones said the extra equipment could save volunteers valuable time. He added that the community first responders, who are dispatched when someone becomes ill, would now not have to swap kits at the end of their duty, which could provide more emergency cover.
Chairman of the Ramsey Cottage Hospital League of Friends, Leonard Singer said: "We look forward to providing further equipment in the future to benefit the patients and staff".
