Brussels Area Receives Increased ASTRID TETRA Network Capacity
ASTRID, the operator of the Belgium Public Safety TETRA Network has equipped eleven radio towers with additional radio capacity that can be activated during major incidents.
Following the attacks of 22 March 2016, ASTRID placed fifteen additional transceivers (carriers) in and around the city of Brussels, Belgium. This means that the network is now able to cope with more radio traffic in crisis situations.
The result of the extension of the network also implicated that the ASTRID network in the city of Brussels had to be reajusted.
During crisis situations in the area of Brussels, ASTRID may also use a number of radio frequencies that are owned by the Minstry of Defense.
