TETRA and Critical Communications Association CEO Announces Plans to Retire
After more than ten years as CEO of the TETRA and Critical Communications Association (TCCA), Phil Kidner has decided to retire.
In a communication to its members today, the TCCA announced the retirement of Phil Kidner as CEO of the TCCA. The board said that they respect the decision of Kidner and thanked him for his very significant contribution and commitment to the Association.
Going forward, the TCCA has to recruit a new CEO who will take over within the next six months. The association asked its members to propose a candidate or to recommend someone that could fullfill the activities/roles of the CEO.
Phil Kidner is CEO of the TETRA & Critical Communications Association, which represents a membership of 160 organisations from 37 countries. In his role as CEO, Phil’s main responsibility over the years was to promote the TETRA standard and its benefits of security, resilience and interoperability, and to manage its evolution ensuring that the needs of all users, existing and new, are met.
Phil joined the TETRA Association in April 2006 from PITO, now the NPIA, in the UK. Having originally joined PITO as a seconded police officer – he retired from the police service in 2003 after thirty years’ service. Phil gained an in-depth experience in all stages of the largest TETRA project implementation in the world, from initial specification through procurement and implementation to service management. He also represented PITO on the TETRA Association Operators and Users forum, he was a Past President of BAPCO and was Chair of the System Specification Group of Project MESA (an international partnership between ETSI and the US TIA addressing future mobile broadband communications).
