Simoco XD DMR range on sow at RADIOCOMMS CONNECT 2012
This year’s conference looked at the application of PMR in utilities, transport, mining and public safety, and at how digital technology is shaping the future of radio communications.
Mobile radio specialist Simoco exhibited its new DMR based Xd range at this year’s RadioComms Connect 2012 in Melbourne, Australia. A Tier II DMR system that can be software upgraded to Tier III, Simoco Xd includes a full range of base stations/repeaters, portables, mobiles and applications.

While at the event, Simoco’s Group Marketing Director Jonathan Bunce, offered a manufacturer’s perspective on spectrum planning, focussing on emerging digital radio technologies and the rise of DMR, referring to TETRA, P25 Phase II and dPMR. Simoco Chairman, Mike Norfield examined the general principle of IP convergence and in particular pose questions about why PMR was one of the last communication technologies to leverage the benefits of IP connectivity.
Giles Gillison, Product Manager at Simoco spoke on behalf of the DMR Association, evaluating DMR and the benefits of its application for Critical Communications Users.
