New DMR Communications Solution Improves Staff Security at NORDENS ARK

Source: MCCResources

The solution will provide flexible alarm handling, while the future-proof technology helps with increased performance and better coverage throughout the nature park.

Norden's Ark is a private non-profit foundation that gives endangered animals a future through breeding, rearing and stocking. During the last  25 year of operation, Nordens Ark contributed to the survival of several species.

Their new way radios solution consists of a MOTOTRBO Base Station (DMR) and a variety of handheld devices from Motorola Solutions. Although the main reason for the purchase is the extended security solution, the radios will also will be used for voice communications between those who are working in the park. The alarms in the system clearly communicates the recipients' two-way radios with information about the sender and will also be automatically forwarded to a number of mobile phones by using GSM.

The system will initially run in analogue mode to enable the continued use of some of the park's existing radios. In a next phase an operator position will be added. Via a mapping application, the operator should then be able to see exactly where in the park the distressed is located.
