Lapland Airport Receives new Digital Communication System
Celab Communications AB recently announced that it has sold a DMR (Digital Mobile Radio) Communication system to Lapland Airport.
Lapland Airport is located just outside Gällivare, in the north of Sweden and operated by the municipality. The airport was originally a military airfield but has been providing scheduled flights since the seventies. The airport manages a dozen flights daily.
The new solution consists of a communication radio system from Motorola Solutions, based on the international DMR radio standard. The heart of the system will consist of two interconnected Motorola SLR5500 base stations connected to battery backup for enhanced reliability. Communications will primarily be done via the Motorola DP4601e portable radio. In addition there will also be some solutions for acces control and audio recording.
The system design, scope and function was very much detaied in the procurement document that Lapland Airport published by the end of 2016. The contract focused on the ability of the supplier for technical expertise, experience and financial situation.
Implementation and commissioning of the new system will take place in June 2017.
