Motorola Solutions buys Gridstone for its Public Safety Apps
Motorola Solutions is boosting its mobile app capabilities, acquiring local development firm Gridstone for an undisclosed sum.
Gridstone, a privately held company which specialises in iOS apps for public agency use, will now become a wholly-owned subsidiary of American-based Motorola Solutions.
Motorola Solutions executive Iain Clarke said the acquisition was a good fit for both firms.
“Gridstone develops mobile applications that are well-designed, easy-to-use and proven in helping organisations overcome their most complex workflow management problems,” Mr Clarke said.
“Its applications provide clear and immediate benefits for customers — from reducing manual administration tasks so police officers can spend more time in the field to automating processes to increase efficiency within industrial environments.
Gridstone CEO Jon Grant said combining the companies would provide immediate benefits and a strong foundation for growth. Gridstone will now become a wholly-owned subsidiary of Motorola Solutions.
“Motorola Solutions develops technology solutions for vertical markets that are naturally aligned to Gridstone’s. Through our collective strengths and expertise we will instantly enhance the quality and range of services and products we both provide.
