Estonian Transition to the single Emergency Number 112 has started
Calls to 112 will direct ambulance, fire, police and rescue services.
Estonia - The transition to the single emergency number 112 has started in Estonia. Everyone can dial the emergency number 112 for ambulance, fire & rescue and, since 11 February, for the police. Thus, it becomes easier to call for help: people should remember only one emergency number.
The transition to the common emergency number includes re-allocating the contact points of all emergency services to a common location in the premises of the Estonian Emergency Response Centre (EERC). Therefore, dispatching emergency services gets faster and more accurate for people in need.
All dispatchers of the EERC are trained to handle emergency calls of three services - ambulance, fire & rescue, and police. During the transition period, calls to the police emergency number 110 will be automatically forwarded to the emergency number 112.
