Ligga, a reference telecommunications operator in Paraná, and Centro Universitário Santa Cruz (UniSantaCruz), in Curitiba, announce the first private 5G network at a university in the country. The project, integrated by Databahn Solutions, is a milestone in the technological education journey to transform the academic community, the telecommunications industry and the business and innovation ecosystem in Paraná.

5G network installations are underway on the UniSantaCruz campus and will allow more than 18,000 students and teachers to explore and test new technological applications with more stability, lower energy consumption, greater reliability and connection speeds up to 100 times faster than to a common broadband network.

“The 5G laboratory will offer students a unique opportunity to interact with emerging technologies such as virtual reality, internet of things (IoT) and advanced automation driven by the 5G network”, says Roger Bicalho, rector of the university.

Applications

In the coming months, solutions will be implemented to improve the educational experience through the 5G laboratory. Among these initiatives, the use of augmented reality glasses in specific classes for detailed analysis of human tissues, installation of 360º cameras in the EAD course studios for a comprehensive and interactive view of classes, facial scanning to release turnstiles, check-in automatic in classes to optimize attendance records, interactive student support totem for issuing report cards, class schedules, among others.

With Ligga's expertise and connectivity technology, which already serves more than 84% of state schools in Paraná, present in 1,926 of the 2,286 educational units in 399 municipalities, the company reinforces its commitment to boosting connectivity and innovation in the educational sector.

“The initiative represents a significant technological advance and contributes to the digital transformation process that will boost education in the country and help in the training of future professionals. With the 5G private network solution, we enable the creation of an ecosystem conducive to fostering innovation, in which education and technology go hand in hand, empowering Brazil for an increasingly better and more productive future”, reinforces Ligga’s CRO, Rafael Marquez.

Holder of the rights to explore 5G in Paraná, São Paulo and the North region, Ligga directs its efforts to offer the new technology to the B2B market. "5G offers advantages such as very high stability, processing capacity for multiple solutions, applications and peripherals, in addition to providing ultra-speed connection and latency that tends to zero. The result of this is that our corporate customers will have a wireless network with very high usability and availability even in an environment with a high concentration of simultaneously connected devices, as is the case with UniSantaCruz", explains Marquez.

The event that marks the launch of the private network should officially take place on January 24th, at UniSantaCruz, in Curitiba.
