NTIA Announces Recruitment of New FirstNet Authority Board Members
The National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) has released a Federal Register Notice to search for applicants who are interested in taking part in the First Responder Network Authority Board (FirstNet Authority Board or Board).
The Board is in charge of giving overall policy direction and strategic guidance, and is collaborating with the FirstNet Authority management. The FirstNet Authority is responsible for the deployment and operation of the FirstNet Network, a single, national network architecture of an interoperable public safety broadband network across the nation.
11 seats will be available for new appointments and reappointments of existing Board members on the Board in 2024, each with a three-year term. Applicants should possess profound experience and expertise in one or more of the statutory qualifications that affect the network, such as public safety, network, technical, and financial. The Board is devoted to the success of the nationwide public safety network, and board members guarantee the network keeps expanding with public safety needs through their leadership.
Expressions of interest must be emailed on or before February 2, 2024, and must contain:
- Full name, title, organization, address, telephone number, email address;
- Current resume;
- Brief bio;
- Statement of qualifications that references how the candidate satisfies the Act’s expertise, representational, and geographic requirements for FirstNet Authority Board membership, as described in this Notice; and
- A statement describing why the candidate wants to serve on the FirstNet Authority Board, affirming their ability and availability to take a regular and active role in the Board’s work.
