TETRA Solutions presented @ SECURITY ESSEN
TETRA becomes more important in the SECURITY industry
SECURITY Essen (Germany) is presenting itself as the meeting place and heart of the security and fire prevention industry from October 5th to the 8th, 2010. It is expected that more than 40,000 security experts from about 115 countries will come together to acquaint themselves with innovative products and services from more than 1,100 exhibitors from all over the world. The exhibition presents itself every two years as the trend barometer of a growing industry. In this years edition, the segments fire prevention and IT security will be presented on an even greater scale.
Many of the organizations present are concentrated on IT security, often based on IP technology. Interesting to see is that today we do see a careful growth of the integration of TETRA Communications into the security world. This year, companies where presenting solutions in:
• ANPR solutions (Genetec)
• Command & Control solutions ( Siemens - Vomatec - CKS Systeme - Schneider Intercom)
• TETRA Radio Solutions (Selectric - Funkwerk - Scmidt Funktechnik)
• TETRA Applications (Frequentis)
• TETRA Recording solutions (ATIS - Verint)
• GPS Repeating solutions ( Roger GPS)
At the exhibition, ANPR solutions where presented by Genetec. The company showed its Mobile and fixed AutoVu LPR solution that is able to work via a various bearers and possibly also with TETRA (depending on the exact configuration of the system). Siemens, CKS Systeme, Schneider and Vomatec where presenting their Dispatch systems. Schneider showed for the fist time its TETRA intercom solution and Verint and ATIS where presenting their Voice ecording solutions. ATIS Sales director Sven Bruns stated that, today there are many companies offering Voice recording systems, however ATIS is purely focused and specialized to offer solutions within the Mission Critical environment (TETRA customers) offering its Voice Collect recording system.
Interesting to see is the development of integrated solutions within TETRA radios. Where Funkwerk was offering their integrated man-down solutions build in the FT4S radio (IP65), Schmidt Funktechnik showed its man-down solution integrated in a Motorola TETRA MTP850 radio. According to Paul Schmidt, the solution is very much focused on users of TETRA radios within the Petrochemical industry.
GPS repeating remains an interesting solution for Fire brigades. For example in a situation where the control-room wishes to see how many vehicles are stationed on the Fire Station location. By implementing the GPS repeater, this is now possible. The GPS signal of the TETRA mobile radio (or handset) will be repeated by the GPS repeater solution to the control room. Especially in situations where the vehicle is parked somewhere far away from the exit door and in situations where there is not enough indoor TETRA coverage.
As TETRA becomes more and more integrated in the security world, we will expect more solutions and applications to be showed on SECURITY Essen in two years time.
