This is the seventh year in a row that Entropia Digital, the Tetra network operator with national coverage, takes care of the radio communications during the Amstel Gold Race.

This is the seventh year in a row that Entropia Digital, the Tetra network operator with national coverage, takes care of the radio communications during the Amstel Gold Race. A new aspect this year is that use is made of Entropia Digital's digital network instead of an analogue network.

Entropia Digital is the provider of the so-called Radio Tour, which is the technical term for the providing of information from the cycling officiator vehicles to the media. In this way the media, which includes the NOS, teletext and the reporter at the finish line, stay informed about the course developments of this classic cycling race.

A super plus point is that Entropia Digital also rebroadcasts the Radio Tour channel via the VHF frequency of the KNWU (Royal Dutch Cycling Union). Scanner listeners, motorcyclists and cameramen use that channel for their communications. This channel can be heard across the entire region.

François van Laarhoven, CTO at Entropia Digital: "During a classic race like this there is constant communication. Team leaders want to know who is where, officiators announce the latest course progress and journalists try to maintain an overview of it all. For that you need a network that is both stable and reliable as well as fast. That is possible with Tetra, which is also used by the Dutch and Belgian police, for example."
