Cassidian company changes name and is selective on TETRA bids in the USA
USA: The CEO of Cassidian Communications said the company is preparing for corporate and platform name changes in coming months...
According to Radioresourcemag, Cassidian will change its name in the coming months. This has been communicated by Bob Freinberg, the CEO of Cassidian Communications.
Following on the heels of its parent company’s rebranding in January, the U.S. subsidiary Cassidian Communications will take on a form of the Airbus Defense and Space name around the Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (APCO) International conference in August.
At the same time, the U.S. company will also brand its full product portfolio around the Vesta name and at the same time the company is involved in many bids for P25 network expansions and 1-1-2 opportunities. According to Feinberg P25 projects are onging, even in Europe, including Russia.
According to Freinberg, the company is “flooded” with bids for P25 network expansions and add-ons during 2014.
TETRA in the USA
Back in 2013, Cassidian Communications intoduced its full TETRA product line, including infrastructure, consoles and radios, into the North American market.
Freinberg said the company is in response mode for TETRA sales. “We started pursuing the market last year, and we found it to be extraordinarily price driven, not value drive,” he said. “Price seemed to be the only criteria derived by some incumbents here in the U.S.
He continues: “We’re still in the North American TETRA market, but we are being selective and looking at more scaled, larger projects where the value of our TETRA technology is seen and the value of the bids fill that out.”
