One of Belgium's largest police forces, Lokale Politie Antwerpen (LPA) - Local Police Antwerp - has decided to equip its officers with Sepura STP9000 hand-portable radios.

LPA selected Sepura TETRA terminals after extensive user testing of a variety of hand-held radios from a number of manufacturers, over a period of six months.

The contract, secured by Abiom, Sepura's long-standing partner in Belgium, also features Radio Manager 2, Sepura's scalable fleet management tool that allows rapid programming of an entire radio fleet, local or remote.

Antwerp Police selected Sepura STP9000 hand-portable radios because of their robustness, IP67 rating against dust and water ingress, their battery capacity and extensive range of accessories. In addition, the radios' intuitive user interface met LPA's specific requirements.

Chief Inspector for LPA, Bernd Vleugels commented: "After thorough evaluation and operational field tests, our officers had no hesitation in selecting Sepura STP9000. In particular, they were particularly impressed with the radios' audio quality and robustness, battery capacity and the range of available accessories.

Furthermore, we are pleased with the flexibility that Radio Manager 2 offers: "Each unit has a customised set-up, according to their role, and the ability to quickly and easily configure the radios will provide us with significant savings in time and money."

Bas de Grood, CEO of Abiom said: "This is a very prestigious contract for us. We will work closely with Sepura and LPA to ensure that the migration to the new radio equipment, due for completion by mid-2015, will be seamless and successful".
