Parchim International Airport Reverts to Frequentis

Source: MCCResources

Frequentis’s completely redundant VCS 3020X solution was successfully integrated into the existing TETRA digital radio, voice recording, telephone, weather data, and direction finder systems.

The Frequentis’s flexible and collaborative communication solution was recently put into operation at Parchim airport in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Germany.

Frequentis proved to be the only vendor capable of delivering a system that fulfils the criteria for operational use.

Parchim airport intends to enlarge its airport to create an international destination for freight and passenger traffic, thus requiring a state-of-the-art ATC communication system. However, the system initially chosen by the airport did not live up to expectations: The responsible providers could not release it for safe operation. Thus, the airport decided for a change of contract – and for a Frequentis solution.

Frequentis deployed its proven compact and duplicated standard system with IP interfaces, the VCS 3020X. This system stands for flexible integration of the existing analog/digital infrastructure. It allows Parchim to manage all communication between tower and cockpit with time-tested and reliable availability. Frequentis’s completely redundant VCS 3020X solution encompasses a multitude of interfaces to external systems and was successfully integrated into the existing TETRA digital radio, voice recording, telephone, weather data, and direction finder systems.

Due to its scalable concept, the installation is easily expandable to meet the growth expectations of Parchim airport. All air traffic controllers were trained on the new system with its intuitive and easy-to-learn layout concept, adding to quick acceptance of the solution by all Parchim airport stakeholders. Parchim airport, as well as all other international and national airports in Germany, trusts in the future-ready ATM communication solutions of technology leader Frequentis.
