JFK has been using ARINC GLOBALink for mission critical airline and aviation ground-based communications since 2001. The network enables airport operations staff to communicate vital information to airline ramp area personnel, airline passenger services, ground handlers, terminal security teams, and airport ground staff.
The TETRA platform offers fast and secure radio communications with a wide range of telephone-like voice and data services that provide clear, crisp connectivity. Other key advantages such as improved voice clarity for radio communication, improved RF spectrum efficiency with the ability to support multiple simultaneous conversations, and an open standard to accommodate new technologies are also part of the TETRA platform.
The JFK network upgrade marks the second time Rockwell Collins and PowerTrunk have worked together. The companies completed a successful upgrade at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) in mid-2014.
