Sepura Powers Ironman Triathlon with TETRA Radios

In order to enable efficient, fast and reliable communication during the International Ironman Triathlon in the City of Maastricht, The Netherlands, Sepura, through its local distributor Abiom, delivered 137 TETRA radios to the event organization.

The radios were used in combination with the commercial TETRA network of Entropia Digital in the Netherlands and the ASTRID Public Safety TETRA network in Belgium.

In order to support cross border communications, for the first time at the Ironman event, Abiom offered a cross-border communication solution. Both networks were linked to each other by means of an ISI, that was in-house developed by Abiom. Furthermore, on each network, four talk groups were used. 

The communications network was used used by, among others; The jury, ambulance services, first aid, traffic and other support services

The IRONMAN triathlon is an annual recurring sporting event in which participants swim 3.8 kilometers, cycle 180 kilometers and run 42,195 kilometers (marathon).
