Sepura has been chosen to provide 3,200 TETRA hand-portable radios for São Paulo-Guarulhos International Airport, Brazil.

Sepura will supply the radios - a combination of SC2024s, the company's flagship hand-portables, and STP9200s - as part of a prestigious contract to replace the airport's existing analogue communications system, awarded to solutions partner Alcon Engenharia.

The new digital network will provide voice and data services for staff across the airport, including airline personnel, maintenance, cleaning, security and emergency services. A suite of applications will optimise processes such as logistics control, team allocation, positioning, image push and radio registration, promoting efficiency across the site.

The airport is consistently ranked as one of the busiest in Latin America, transporting 38,985,000 passengers in 2015 alone.

"We're extremely pleased to be working with Alcon on this prestigious contract, providing communication for one of Brazil's most important airports," said Marcelo Bellatini, Business Development Manager for Sepura.

"Sepura technology empowers airport personnel with mission-critical voice and data services, promoting safety and efficiency of operations. The SC2024, in particular, offers Class 3 high-power RF transmission, coupled with exceptional receive sensitivity, giving extended operational range and stretching coverage into areas where it was not possible before.

"This is coupled with a high-speed second data-bearer option and an extended applications capability that puts real back-office intelligence into the hands of the user."

"Sepura continues to be our preferred partner for the implementation of TETRA solution in Brazil," said Gilson Pozzati, Alcon Engenharia's Sales Manager, Airports.

"Sepura radios are reliable and resilient - ideal for harsh and noisy airport conditions - while the cutting-edge data services provided by the SC2024 will allow us to optimise operational efficiency across the airport, bringing significant benefits for staff and travellers alike."
