Celab Signs Agreement with Volvo Cars to Supply TETRA Communications
Celab announced that the company has signed an agreement with Volvo Cars on communication and management systems for the Hällered test track.
The new system will make it smoother and safer to control the many people and vehicles moving in the area, often at high speeds.
The test track in Hällered is used to test tomorrow's vehicles and components. The plant is constructed in such a way that you can "simulate" the expected life of the car under normal conditions in only a few months. On the many different lanes, everything from top speed to rust protection, suspension and active safety can continuouslybe tested, around the clock.
In autumn 2017, a new digital radio communication system will be installed at the facility. The backbone of the system is a multi-site TETRA system based on infrastructure from Motorola's Solutions. The actual conversation on the network will be conducted through more than one hundred Motorola TETRA ST7000 radios, a new advanced and compact portable radio.
In order to streamline traffic management, the system will be complemented by Celab's popular management platform, Orchestra, that was developed for, among other things, TETRA architecture. With the new platform, traffic controllers will, for example, be able to real-time position devices on the built-in map, control communications routes or execute calls directly into the PA system.
Celab has previously installed a similar system at Volvo Hällered's nearest neighbor, AstaZero, another test track focusing on active road safety. Experiences from this project will contribute to further quality and reliability in the future system of Volvo Cars.
