Hytera Secures Communications in Germany's Largest Soccer Temple
Stewarding service safeguards Germany's largest national football league stadium with Hytera Z1p TETRA radios.
When the German national football league calls, thousands of people in Dortmund flow into the Signal Iduna stadium on Strobelallee, currently Germany's largest football temple. The stewarding service that controls entry and manages the crowds inside the stadium is equipped with 60 TETRA radios from Hytera. These radios guarantee good, reliable communication between the team – an important factor for a smooth, efficient operation in the stadium.
The technical service provider for the complete stadium during matches is the company, fulfil eventconsulting GmbH. The General Manager Norbert Labudda, as the technical leader, ensures on match days that all the building services are operational, the public address system is working correctly, all monitors are in operation and the stadium TV is transmitting its program.
He has consciously equipped the stewarding and security service with TETRA handheld radios of model Z1p from Hytera: crucial for him was the good quality of the voice output and voice transmission, despite significant background noise in the direct vicinity of use. In the full stadium, which in Dortmund offers space for more than 81,000 visitors, the noise level regularly climbs to 95 decibel.
"We tested the radio on site in real conditions. The Z1p is very suitable for these extreme conditions", the technical leader says. He therefore ordered 60 devices from Hytera partner Riedel Communications.
The Z1p in use
The staff in the stewarding and security service wear the Z1p concealed on the body while they are working in the Dortmund stadium and communicate conveniently via a remote speaker microphone fastened to their work clothing. They have their hands free at all times.
The Z1p combines compact design with comprehensive TETRA functionality and a power output of up to 3 Watt in a slender housing.
"As such it is the perfect companion for all stewards, emergency and security personnel both in the football stadium and at major events and other events of all types", says Frank Pauer, Deputy CSO at Hytera Mobilfunk.
With its TETRA security features such as the air interface encryption, the end-to-end encryption and integrated tampering protection, the Z1p reliably safeguards the radio communication.
