UK Home Office and Motorola Solutions Agree to Terminate the ESN Contract Early
Online publication UK Authority on their website steted that the UK Emergency Services Network's user services role will no longer be handled by Motorola Solutions, as per an agreement between the Home Office and the corporation (ESN).
The government published a contract termination notice a month after the step was taken and effective a year before its expiration in December, although the company will continue to give "termination assistance" for 12 months.
It is also believed to have begun searching for a new supplier of the company's "push to talk" applications and services for first responders.
Motorola developed the "push to talk" feature of the ESN, which will replace the Airwave network and turn mobile phones into data-capable emergency services radios.
The ESN, initially scheduled for early 2020, was delayed, prompting the move. After choosing Kodiak over Wave 7000, the parties extended the contract by two years to 2024 in 2019.
