cemtec.002.jpgDantherm Power is a joint venture between Ballard Power Systems Inc., Danfoss A/S and Dantherm A/S. The partners bring extensive expertise in fuel cells and other clean energy solutions that will accelerate development of fuel cell markets across Europe.

Dantherm Power develops clean energy backup power systems, utilizing Ballard Power Systems’ hydrogen fuel cell technology in telecomunications for telecom suppliers including Motorola and Ericsson.

Dantherm Power is an international enabler when it comes to the commercial application of hydrogen and fuel cell technologies. Our fuel cell based backup power solutions are found inside IT and telecom network base stations all over the world.

In 2005 the first backup power units were introduced driven by fuel cells, offering a commercially and environmentally viable alternative to diesel generators and battery backup units.

Dantherm Power has an ongoing working relationship with research departments at Danish universities and a joint Canadian-Danish research project - the CanDan Fuel Cell Initiative. Dantherm Power is determined to stay at the absolute forefront, ready to introduce a reliable solution whenever and wherever hydrogen and fuel cells prove to be a commercially and environmentally viable alternative to traditional energy supply applications.

Dantherm Power started in 2003 as a R&D project within Dantherm Air Handling A/S. The project focused on developing a backup power solution, based on fuel cell technology, for compact cooling and climate solutions for IT and telecom networks. In January 2010, Ballard Power Systems invested $6 million for controlling interest in Dantherm Power along with co-investors Danfoss A/S and Dantherm A/S.
