eMBMS with ENENSYS' Middleware Enabled in Bittium Tough Mobile 2 Secure Smartphone
The eMBMS solution enables efficient use of LTE radio spectrum, delivering huge amounts of data even in a congested network environment, and every device (car, PTT device, robot) receives the data at the exact same time.
Bittium, a leading Finnish provider of mission critical solutions, and ENENSYS Technologies, a leading provider of media delivery and public safety solutions, announced that evolved Multimedia Broadcast Multicast Solution (eMBMS) with ENENSYS' Middleware, which is intended for public authority LTE networks, can now be deployed in highly secure Bittium Tough Mobile™ 2 smartphone. With this cooperation, LTE Broadcast features are now enabled in rugged public safety Bittium Tough Mobile 2.
LTE Broadcast has become an essential aspect of communication as technological advances affect the quantity and quality of information to be distributed to in-the-field officers. The eMBMS solution enables efficient use of LTE radio spectrum, delivering huge amounts of data even in a congested network environment, and every device (car, PTT device, robot) receives the data at the exact same time. This is particularly important in public safety, security and other mission-critical communications, which require fast data speeds, low latencies and reliable connections. Security and reliability are key elements for public safety officers and Bittium has been working with ENENSYS for several years, utilizing their eMBMS solutions in Bittium Tough Mobile devices in public safety projects.
"During this complicated time, in order to reduce the spread of COVID-19, public safety forces are required to monitor the streets to make sure that people are respecting government restrictions in regards to movement and regrouping", stated Bartolo Scanavino, ENENSYS Telecom Market Director. "In certain areas, police are using video surveillance from drones and consuming a high volume of LTE resources. With Bittium Tough Mobile 2, these officers would have the possibility of using eMBMS – a crucial feature to ensure that the video streams are available to all agents in the city – without struggling with the limited spectrum availability on their private network."
"It has been a pleasure to work with ENENSYS again, and continue our successful cooperation", says Sammy Loitto, Senior Vice President, Sales at Bittium. "With a reliable and standards-compliant eMBMS solution, public safety organizations and government agencies can utilize data intensive services, such as real-time HD video, situational awareness and dynamic maps. eMBMS is a perfect technology for the new MC-PTT, MC-Video and MC-Data applications which are increasingly deployed in LTE networks intended for public authorities and operators of critical security of supply."
